Power Electronics has reinforced its commitment to the energy transition by actively participating in the fourth edition of the Congreso Nacional de Energías Renovables, organised by the Avaesen association.

This event took place on January 28 and 29 in Valencia. It brought together the main players in the energy industry. They discussed the challenges and opportunities of renewable energies and other clean technologies in the Valencian Community.

Main sponsor of the second Night of the Energy Leaders

On the evening of January 28, Power Electronics sponsored the second Night of the Energy Leaders, a networking cocktail that served as a preamble to the congress and took place at the emblematic Palau Alameda in Valencia. The event was attended by prominent authorities who participated in both the opening, by Marcos J. Lacruz, President of Avaesen; Rebeca Torró, Secretary of State for Industries; and Manuel Argüelles, General Director of Energy, as well as in the closing, by Pedro Fresco, General Manager of Avaesen, and Carlos Mundina, Councilor for Climate Improvement and Water Management of the Valencia City Council.

IV National Energy Revolution Congress

During the congress held on January 29 at the Príncipe Felipe Science Museum, various topics were discussed, including emerging markets in the energy sector, the future of energy storage and new business models, and the electricity system and grid integration.

The Technical Vice President of Power Electronics, Lalo Salvo, was one of the speakers invited to the roundtable "Presente y futuro de la energía en la Comunitat Valenciana". Moderated by Pedro Fresco, General Manager of Avaesen, the roundtable was attended by leading experts in the field, such as Guillermo Roth, Deputy Director of Statkraft Spain; Javier Martínez, CEO of Prosolia Energy; Gabriel Butler, CEO of Genia Bioenergy, and Arturo Gancedo, Project Developer of Cox. The speakers shared their views on the challenges of the energy sector in our region.

During his speech, Lalo Salvo highlighted the positive evolution of Power Electronics' solar division in recent years, noting that 90% of the company's business originates from this division. He also stated that "of the 120 GW installed that we have around the world today, most are in the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom."

The Vice President also emphasized that the most effective approach to address the duck curve today is through the utilization of batteries. The duck curve refers to the graph of energy production over the course of a day that illustrates the time imbalance between peak demand and solar power generation. Energy storage is currently the most competitive solution due to the decrease in the prices of these batteries.
